EID CELEBRATION: 25th March 2026, 4 – 5:30pm
Dear parents and carers,
I am writing to you about our EID celebration which will be held on Wednesday 25th March 2026, between 4 – 5:30pm. We are asking for all children to be collected during the pick-up window of 2:45 – 3:05pm so we can prepare the space and then welcome you back at 4pm.
Please RSVP and tell someone at Reception if you are planning on coming to help us with our preparations.
Eid al-Fitr, is the Muslim celebration which officially marks the end of Ramadan. The Fourth Pillar of Islam is Sawm, or fasting. Fasting takes place during the month of Ramadan, which is a holy month in the Islamic calendar (lunar calendar). This year, Eid al-Fitr is expected to be celebrated on either 19th or 20th March. However, the exact date is subject to the sighting of the moon of Shawwal (the 10th month of the Islamic Calendar).
We are holding our Eid celebration so we can come together as a community, share experiences and learn from each other. This celebration is open to everyone who attends Redcliffe Nursery School and we welcome all families to come and join us. Siblings of children who attend are also welcome to come along.
What will we have going on?
Food: If you would like to bring food to share, please can you tell someone at Reception, who will keep a list. Please can you tell them if the food contains any of the 14 allergens, although we request that there are no nuts in any of the food. I have included a list attached with this letter. When you bring the food in, please could you bring a sheet of paper which lists the name of the dish, the country where the recipe comes from and the allergens included. All food contributions from all countries and cultures are welcome and encouraged.
Music: We will be developing a playlist of songs. Please let your key person know if there are any songs you would like to add to the playlist.
Henna and face painting: We are looking for someone to volunteer for face painting. Please let us know if you’d like to do this.
Photos of how you celebrate Eid at home: We would love to share photos of how you have celebrated Eid at home. Please email any photos you are happy for us to share on the big screen to redcliffe.n@bristol-schools.uk.
Gifts: We will be providing a small gift for all children who attend. Donations are welcome – please look for the QR code that will be displayed in the reception area.
Our staff will be here to celebrate with you but we ask you to take responsibility for your children during the event. We will aim to make allergy information available for the food but we cannot take responsibility for the food as we have not cooked it ourselves.
I sincerely look forward to seeing you at our Eid celebration later this month.
