Dear parents and carers of children in Seagulls,

We hope you had a lovely summer. We are very much looking forward to welcoming you back to the Nursery School.  Home visits are currently underway and we hope you have found these valuable. The staff have enjoyed getting to know you and your child.

I am writing to confirm our session times and procedures moving forward to make sure that we get into good habits and routines for the year ahead. Sticking to these times ensures the smooth running of the Nursery and is in the best interests of the children. It is important for your child to arrive on time during the drop-off window because otherwise they are unable to take part in the early-morning routines and small group time. This is a valuable teaching and learning opportunity and supports your child to feel a sense of belonging in the Key Group.

Children who are new to the Nursery will have different settling in times for the first few weeks. The following session times are for when children are accessing their full nursery day. 

Session times:

• Drop-off and pick-up window. We encourage you to arrive between 8.55 and 9.05am. Doors will open between 8.55am-9.15am and 2.45pm-3.05pm on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday.

PLEASE NOTE: If you arrive for Seagulls after 9.15am, when the doors are closed, you will be asked to wait in reception with your child until group time has finished at 9.45am. Parents will need to say goodbye to your child in reception and one of the reception team will take your child to their Key Group. This enables your child’s Key Person to focus on the teaching and learning they have planned for their group without interruption.

You may see other children coming in during this time. This will be because they are in Blackbirds, or have individual circumstances and arrangements. If you have circumstances beyond your control that mean you cannot arrive before 9.15am, then please speak to me.

• On Wednesdays, the doors will open as usual between 8.55-9.15am. Morning pick up is 11.25-11.35am. Afternoon drop off is 12.25-12.35pm and pick up is the usual 2.45-3.05pm. If you arrive after 12.35pm, when the doors are closed, we will ask you to wait until the afternoon group time has finished at 1pm.
• Tea club session times finish at 5pm and 5.30pm. This is the time we ask you to have left the Nursery by. If you would like a handover conversation with a member of the team, please arrive 5 – 10 minutes before the end of the session.

If you arrive before the drop-off and pick-up window, we ask that you wait outside until the doors are open.

If you are running late for the start of your child’s session, please call ahead to let the reception team know, so we can ensure that your child is accounted for when submitting our lunch numbers to the kitchen. If you miss the start of the session without calling ahead or prior notification of an appointment for example, we have the right to refuse entry. If you arrive after 10am without calling ahead, your child will not be able to join the session.  

If you need to collect your child before the end of their session, early pick up will need to be before 2.30pm. Please inform a member of the reception team if you plan on collecting your child early. You will be asked to sign your child out and a member of the reception team will collect your child and bring them out to you. If you arrive after this time, you will be asked to wait until the doors open at 2.45pm.

If you are going to be late collecting your child, after the pick-up window, please can you ring to let us know in advance. A late collection fee of £10 + session fee will apply to late pick-ups.
